Day 254 – The King: This is Kerry King of Slayer, who I got to photograph at the Academy tonight. He is a shredding legend and was a joy to see in action close up. Already looking forward to seeing them again at Sonisphere!

Day 219 – Karma to Burn: Tonight I was at the Academy 3 to shoot stoner rockers Karma to Burn for the Daily Dust. They were pretty good – very heavy – but their lack of a vocalist made it a tad samey.

Day 213 – Competition time: Every year now since 2006, I’ve entered the Practical Photography magazine Photographer of the Year competition, and every year I’ve failed to get into the shortlisted 10 for any round. I once made the shortlist for the shortlist, but that was as far as it went. Anyway, the first round of this year’s comp – landscapes – went the usual way for me, but tonight I’ve entered round 2 – portraits. This pic, of Manchester Orchestra’s Andy Hull, is one of my entries. Here’s hoping for better luck this time around!

Day 196 – No Company: Unfortunately I didn’t get a pass to shoot Bad Company last night, so you’ll have to make do with another shot from Ellie Goulding on Saturday. P.S. Why is it called Good Friday? Coz you don’t have to go to work! That’s VERY good!

Day 192 – Hit That!: One of the really good things about the Ellie Goulding gig on Saturday was, because of the smallness of the venue, I was actually able to get some decent drummer shots for a change! Look at this, no face obscured by cymbals, he’s in focus and some nice backlighting to boot!

Day 146 – Legend: As well chatting to Johnny from JFAC, I also got to interview Lamb of God’s drummer Chris Adler on Tuesday. In my opinion he is the best drummer in modern metal and he also has a mighty fine beard as you can see above! Chris was really great to chat to, very humble, very down to earth…just very, very nice!

Day 145 – Braaayyyyyy: Lamb of God weren’t the only band I was excited about last night…supporting were the amazing Job For a Cowboy who, as well as shooting on stage, I was also lucky enough to interview beforehand. Well, I actually just interviewed this guy, Johnny, their vocalist but he was great to chat to and let me take this portrait – a heavy metal beggar was what we decided to call it in the end!
